I’m thinking about getting a roadster, though I am not sure what kind yet. I intend to be really over protective of it in the sense of car insurance, but I’d still like to know how to get a good deal for new sports car insurance?

Good question.

When you get a nice sports car like a roadster, you will naturally be suck with higher car insurance rates. Normally, the rates for such a car are around fifteen or twenty percent higher than they are for other cars that fit different car insurance coverage criteria. It does, though, depend on who the maker of the vehicle you get is. For example, if you get an American made car then it will be a little cheaper, but if you get a car from Europe, those are more expensive to repair and also more difficult, so your collision coverage will raise to counteract higher repair shop costs.

If you intend to get this roadster just to show it off, it might be a good idea to make sure that the car you use regularly is your more junky one. Sports cars are for play, not for work, and if you can keep your annual mileage under five thousand miles, most car insurance companies will give you a good discount for that.

Another way to get discounts for your roadster is to join a club or association dedicated to your make and model. Normally, these clubs have all kinds of perks, such as getting their members better cheap rates on car insurance. There is much more offered beyond that, such as tips on how to best use your car, where to go to get the best upgrades, all kinds of cheats and secrets for your make and model. The better insurance rates are an added plus.

Unless you have a classic or collectible car, you should probably add your roadster to the car insurance policy that your other vehicle is on. This will give you the multiple car discount, and so you will be able to get a lower price on your premium.
